Shutterstock Enhances Creative Offerings with Acquisition of Envato

Shutterstock, a prominent player in the global creative market, has successfully completed its acquisition of Envato Pty Ltd. (“Envato”), a well-regarded provider of digital creative assets and templates. This strategic move significantly enhances Shutterstock’s offerings and expands its reach, particularly among freelancers, small businesses, and agencies.

The acquisition introduces Envato Elements, a standout unlimited multi-asset subscription service, into Shutterstock’s portfolio. This addition is especially beneficial for solopreneurs and smaller enterprises looking to streamline their creative processes and access a wide range of assets under a single subscription.

With the inclusion of Envato, Shutterstock’s subscriber base has more than doubled, reaching 1.15 million. This growth reflects Shutterstock’s enhanced capability to meet the diverse needs of its users, fostering a more dynamic and resourceful environment for content creation. The merger significantly boosts Shutterstock’s content offerings, now featuring an additional 10 million images, 6 million videos, and notable increases in available audio clips, templates, and graphics & fonts.

The expanded library not only increases Shutterstock’s capacity in traditional content types but also diversifies its range into new areas such as code & web themes, product mock-ups, and various template designs suitable for a range of applications from presentations to web design and beyond.

Coinciding with this acquisition, Envato has launched a new visual brand identity, marking a pivotal moment in the company’s evolution and underscoring its commitment to supporting the creative community. This phased rollout aims to enhance user experience and reinforce the brand’s position in the market.

For small business owners and solopreneurs, this development means access to a richer array of resources tailored to their unique needs, from marketing materials to digital design and production tools. As the landscape of digital media continues to evolve, partnerships like that of Shutterstock and Envato are crucial in providing the tools and assets necessary for businesses to thrive in a competitive environment.

We typically get the short end of the stick…from big business, from crappy employers and from crappy governments. So what I’ve (and my esteemed and impeccably dressed cohorts) decided to do is call them out on it…and also give you solutions to start tilting the playing field in your favor.
